As the new owners of the Rubislaw Quarry (which includes a circa 465 ft man made hole, some land to the west and an awful lot of water) we are keen to collect as much information as possible about its history.
If you have any connection with the quarry, photographs of it or the men that worked there, anecdotes, knowledge of places that Rubislaw granite was used, in fact any information at all, we would be very keen to hear from you.
We are also interested to hear your ideas on its future use.
The water level in the quarry has risen steadily since it closed in 1971, and this appears to have accelerated over the last few years. We would particularly like any information on how the quarry was drained during its working life.
It is our hope to make the information we collect accessible to the public and hopefully in the future do the same with the quarry itself. For anyone with a specific interest, we do have limited access, Please contact us with any requests.
We will do our best to answer all emails,
Sincerely
Hugh Black and Sandy Whyte
